The Suffolk County Marathon is an exciting two-day event that will take place on October 21st and 22nd. Runners can choose to participate in a 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, or full marathon race across some of the most picturesque circuits on Long Island. After the races, Suffolk County Health will host Freedom Fest, an open-air festival with live music and entertainment, crafts, local businesses, activities for children, local food and craft beer. The Suffolk County Marathon is a great opportunity for serious runners to challenge themselves and register their miles every day. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Suffolk County Corrections Officer Jeffrey Benaim ran five marathons over five days. He ran a full 26.2-mile marathon each day in each of New York City's five boroughs, totaling 131 miles on five consecutive days. In addition to the races and festivities, the Suffolk County Marathon also offers medical services for runners and spectators. Medical staff will be on hand throughout the event to provide medical assistance if needed. There will also be a medical tent set up at the finish line for runners who need additional care after completing their race.
